The NEKCOA Celebrates Older Americans Month

Mel Reis • May 1, 2024

This year's theme is Powered by Connection

Every May, the Administration for Community Living (ACL) leads the nation’s observance of Older Americans Month (OAM). The 2024 theme is Powered by Connection, which recognizes the profound impact that meaningful relationships and social connections have on our health and well-being. The Council continues to highlight the vital role that connectedness plays in supporting independence and aging in place by combatting isolation, loneliness, and other issues.

If you have a desire to help us to keep our elder friends and neighbors connected in their communities, please call our helpline to volunteer (800) 642-5119.  We welcome volunteers to help with delivering meals, making phone calls or friendly visits, offering transportation to appointments, assisting with technology, and so much more.

Join us in promoting the benefits of connecting with others.
