Jeremiah Schuyler and Terri O'Connor join our team

The NEK Council on Aging is pleased to welcome Jeremiah Schuyler and Terri O’Connor as new Case Managers for the NEKCOA working out of the Newport and St. Johnsbury offices respectively. The role of case manager is to support the clients of the Council in their homes so they may live as independently as possible within a framework of available resources and supports.

“We are very excited to invite Jeremiah and Terri to join our team and incorporate their talents within our service network to assist older Vermonter in their desire to live independently,” said Meg Burmeister, Executive Director of the NEK Council on Aging. “The rural nature of our service area requires our case managers to be dedicated and creative--they wear many hats. We welcome their desire to share their passion for supporting the needs of our older friends and neighbors. When we help older Vermonters, we are helping all Vermonters.”

Schuyler comes to the Council after serving as the Reach Up Case Manager for Northeast Kingdom Community Action (NEKCA) in Newport. There he was responsible for the coordination and delivery of Parent Child Center activities and services through the State’s Reach Up program. In addition, he served as their Outreach Housing Case Manager, assisting clients in crisis to determine immediate housing needs by working in collaboration with area agencies. Previous to his case management experience, Schuyler was a social studies teacher at the Richford Junior-Senior High School in Richford, VT. He will be working out of the NEKCOA Newport office.

He received a Bachelor’s in Secondary Education from SUNY Oneonta and an Associate in General Studies from Herkimer County Community College in Herkimer, NY. He lives in Newport.

Terri O’Connor has over 30 years of experience in management, customer service, business and production management, development, human services, and training.

As the former Family Supported Housing Coordinator for NEKCA, her responsibilities included case management for families who have unique housing needs. She worked closely with several area organizations, schools, law enforcement, legal representatives, and community partners to ensure housing for families in need.

Her business and production management experience included serving as the owner of Taylored Satellite Solutions of Newport where she was responsible for day-to-day sales, marketing, and customer service activity. She was the Office and Sales Manager for O’C Satellite in St. Johnsbury and the Chief Communications Officer and Partner at Lean Healthcare Partners in Montpelier who specialized in incorporating just-in-time production methodologies into banks, healthcare, and other service industries to increase capacity, eliminate errors, and reduce costs.

She was the Training and Education Manager for Vermont Technical College (VTC) providing business and employee planning and development systems nationally to the healthcare, manufacturing, banking and education sectors.

She is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in applied psychology and human services from Northern Vermont University. She lives in Burke.
