It's Our 40th Anniversary! Join Us For "Our Third Act"

Mel Reis • June 4, 2019

An evening with Say It Forward Productions and The Brevity Thing.

In honor of their 40th Anniversary, the Northeast Kingdom Council on Aging is pleased to welcome the comedic storytelling team from Say It Forward Productions and their performance of “Our Third Act – Stories of Grace & Inspiration.” The event will take place on Saturday, June 8th at 7 p.m. at the South Church. Admission is $15 per person and all proceeds will help to support the programs and services provided by the Council. Tickets are available at the door and catamountix.com.

This fun and engaging performance will feature comedians and storytellers Susanne Schmidt and Kevin Gallagher who will describe how getting older is the best thing that could ever happen to you. The band “The Brevity Thing” will also perform amazing musical accompaniment.

Susanne Schmidt is a standup comedienne, master storyteller and producer for “The Moth”. Her work has been featured on CBS News, The Moth and National Public Radio. Susanne has appeared in The Boston Women in Comedy Festival, The Toronto SheDot Festival and named the “Best of the Valley Voices” by The Academy of Music Theater and New England Public Radio. Susanne is a teaching artist at the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts, a graduate professor of Clinical Mental Health Counseling and the mother of two amazing young men who would prefer that she stop talking about them on stage.

Kevin Gallagher is a psychotherapist by day, listening to the stories of life. But in the evenings he transforms into a storyteller, battling with the curse of the Irish: the gift of gab and the misery of insecurity. He lives in Vermont and is blessed with a cat and a partner, Michael and Blossom (you figure out who is who) and they provide much of the laundry and housework that completes his fulfilling life. When he is not in the throws of psychotherapy, he enjoys the lack of macramé he might otherwise endure. Kevin is a Moth GrandSLAM winner.

The band, The Brevity Thing - Steve Goldman, Dave Ball and Jom Hammack, are accomplished musicians who write, arrange, and perform music throughout Vermont.

Kevin Gallagher, co-founder of Say It Forward Productions said, "We are delighted to have the chance to come to the Kingdom and perform for the great folks who support the Northeast Council on Aging. The storytellers and band all have a rich history of weaving together the elements necessary for a thought provoking, moving and often laugh-out-loud adventure. Coming to this show will be like going on a trip. We will provide the transportation and the scenery while bringing you to a wonderful destination."

Full details on the performance can be located on the Council’s website: www.nekcouncil.org/special-events.
